Can an agent do this? What to bring to a fit assessment
Describe a task and we tell you whether an agent fits. A plain look at how to prepare for that first conversation.
Most conversations about AI agents start with the technology. Ours starts with a task.
You describe something you would like off your team's plate, and we tell you whether an agent fits. That is the fit assessment, and it is the first step. We build custom AI agents, or small teams of agents, around how a business already works, so the first thing we need to understand is the work, not the tool.
The answer you get is a real one. The answer can be either: a good match, or not a fit. We would rather tell you straight.
If you are thinking about asking, a little preparation makes the conversation better. These are our suggestions, not a form you have to fill in.
Say what the task is, in your own words. Not "improve our operations", but the actual piece of work: what comes in, what someone does with it, what goes out. If you can explain it to a new colleague on their first day, you can explain it to us.
Say how you would know it was done. This is the question we care about most. A task counts as finished when someone can check it: a file that changed, a message that was delivered, a confirmation that came back. If the only proof is somebody saying it went fine, the task is not yet finished. If you cannot yet say how you would check, that is worth working out together before anything is built.
Say what you would not want it to touch. Each agent we build is scoped with a written list of what it will not do, and it is easier to write that list when you already have a view. Some work you will be glad to hand over. Some you will want to keep. Both answers are useful.
Tell us how it works today. Who does it, in what order, with what tools. We build around your way of doing things rather than asking you to adopt ours, and we do not sell off-the-shelf packages, so the detail you give is the raw material.
That is all. You do not need to know whether an agent is the right answer. Working that out is our job in the assessment.
What happens next depends on the answer. If an agent fits, the next step is a proposal with a written scope and a written quote, and nothing starts until it is agreed in writing. If it does not fit, you will have a clearer picture of the task than when you arrived, which is worth something on its own.
We cannot tell you in advance what the answer will be for your task, and we will say plainly what we think.
If you have a task in mind, tell us about it.
